Environmental sustainability and Powell Fenwick

To ensure we lead by example, we are committed to the reduction of carbon emitting activities across all areas of our business.

We are proud to be Toitū net carbonzero certified – ensuring our operations are carbon neutral and working to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions in the forms of energy, waste and water.

Both large and small changes are needed to reduce our impact. Our vehicle fleet includes electric and hybrid vehicles, while our office building has an efficient central mechanical plant, lighting and building envelope, and enhanced waste sorting and disposal. These are just some examples of initiatives we are putting in place to improve the sustainability of our operations.

Environmental sustainability and engineering design

We strive to deliver industry-leading sustainable design solutions.

With sustainability increasingly becoming more important as we see the effects of climate change and waste on our rapidly changing environment, we are determined to make meaningful change in this space.

Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) is recognised as its own discipline within our business. We provide guidance to clients and project teams on carbon assessment, management and reduction opportunities for both embodied and operational carbon emissions, waste and water reductions, and more.

Our innovations are shown in the results. We have contributed to Green Star accredited projects such as the six-star rated Te Hononga Christchurch Civic Building, five-star rated Tūranga library and the five star-rated Te Urutī, Pita Te Hori Centre.

Our foray into the sustainability space is furthered with the use of Homestar, NABERSNZ and building simulations – ensuring we offer a wide variety of industry-recognised solutions.
